Hannah B. Walters - June 4, 2007 to March 2, 2019

On Saturday, March 2, 2019, the world lost a consummate diplodog, a friend to all the dogs and humans she came into contact with not only in her hometown of record- Gainesville, Florida - and in our nation’s great capital of Washington, D.C., but also in the countries she served over the last six years - Kyrgyzstan, Brazil, and last - Myanmar.

Born in Orlando, Florida on June 4, 2007, Hannah B. Walters was fluent in four languages (English, Russian, Portuguese, and Burmese), was an early fan of bacon and Trader Joe’s turkey jerky, a connoisseur of caviar and blini in Kyrgyzstan, churrasco in Brazil, and peanut butter and banana ice cream in the tropics of Myanmar (which helped her cool down immensely). In addition to playing fetch, and hiking in national parks and on mountain trails, Hannah swam in many rivers, lakes, and pools all over the world and even in the Atlantic Ocean in both the U.S. and Brazil and in the second largest mountain lake in the world, Lake Issyk Kul in Kyrgyzstan.

She leaves behind her loving grandparents, who always managed to express their love over the distance via amazing care packages full of babies and treats; her Burmese kitten brother, Doggie, who admittedly tried to steal her churrasco in her final weeks; her favorite cousins, Toby of North Carolina and Ruger of Alabama; and her big love and favorite human, Mandy Walters.

She is already missed, but her human is so incredibly grateful for her unconditional love over their ten years together and acknowledges that she lived a full life, had more adventures than most, left an indelible mark on those she met, and brought a smile to many faces because she was such a good and sweet girl.

A celebration of Hannah’s life was held at her favorite place in Yangon and final resting spot overlooking Inya Lake on Sunday, March 3, 2019, at sunset, with humans planting a Pride of Burma tree in her honor and toasting her with sundowners and her favorite dog pals enjoying a romp together and Hannah’s favorite homemade ice cream.

Simply, Hannah B. Walters was loved.
